Mary Lee Sparks is the youngest member of our group and the newest to quilting. After being impressed with one of her first quilts, I asked her to join us so that she would be exposed to the talented quilters in this group and therefore increase her skills.
Mary Lee originally planned to make a green Irish Chain around her 6" appliquéd blocks, but as the quilt developed she modified that idea. Take a close look at the clever way she made her outer 9 patches so that they form their own border. She says all quilts should have some red so notice it "sewn" throughout her garden.
