Allie's Quilt

Allie's Quilt
For a beautiful little girl.

I made this pastel print quilt for my niece Gabrielle's baby Allie Marie. I have always wanted to make a pastel quilt and found this sweet line of fabric called Simplicity by Moda's 3 Sisters. They design beautiful fabric lines including Chocolat, Roman Holiday, and Sanctuary which I have in my stash. The design for this quilt is from a book by Sandy Berry called Quick and Easy Romantic Quilts. Sandy's company is Berryvine Designs and she specializes in traditional and vintage designs.

I think the hardest part of making a pastel quilt is trying to get some contrast with the fabrics so you can see the design while staying with the light fabrics. I don't think I was very successful in this case. In the past when I have tried to make a pastel quilt I always end up adding darker fabrics because I like the contrast. Perhaps someday I will strike the perfect balance.

The quilt is 48" square. It is machine pieced and quilted with several different designs including hearts, paisleys, and circles.
