In the style of Lorraine Hofmann

This was my first entry into a Conway Quilter's Challenge. The 2007 challenge was to use certain shapes designed by Gwen Marston to create your own original design. I began with the central design from Piece O'Cake Design's Quilts with a Spin. Using the shapes, I built the elements out from there. I asked for guidance from my friend Lorraine Hofmann who specializes in primative and folk art quilts. This was my first attempt at raw edged machine appliqué. My teacher was Donna McConnell who also gave me advice on the technique which I have affectionately named Donnappliqué. I finished the 24" square quilt with machine quilting.
