Autumn Leaves
I saw a quilt similar to this one in a nice quilt shop in Anderson, Missouri called Prints of Piece. The design is simple: A palette of 1 1/2" squares of batiks in fall colors surrounded by two borders. Quilt as you like in the center. I found a nice oak leaf motif to machine quilt the borders.
After binding scatter silk leaves over the top in a pleasing arrangement. I stripped the plastic ribs off the back and sewed the leaves in place using the veins as my stitching lines. This 24" x 27" piece was auctioned at Arkansas Quilt Congress in 2007.
