Hadley's Quilt
The Hungry Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the more than 70 picture books for children that Eric Carle has written and/or illustrated. The distinctive look of his illustrations are collages made with his own hand-painted tissue papers. This was his third and perhaps most famous book published in 1969. Andover Fabrics produced fabric related to three of his books.

This quilt was made for twin girl Hadley Elaine. It was one of those happy mistakes. I had gotten only so much fabric in Dallas. I miscut something and had to redesign the quilt with the fabric I had. So the orange fabric now appears to be a stylized H for Hadley.

As usual, I quilted in Hadley's newborn stats. Since she is a twin I also added with brother Liam. The borders have quilted butterflies and caterpillars and the food and bugs are outline quilted by machine. Now Hadley can enjoy looking at her caterpillar book while snuggled under her quilt.

Hadley's quilt is about 40" x 50". It is machine piece and quilted.
