Miniatures
Although a true miniature is made on a 12":1" scale most small quilts are referred to as miniatures. This is my understanding of what qualifies as a miniature: The width and length should be no more than 24 inches each, and if you are making blocks for the quilt, they should be no larger than 4 inches. The quilts on my site fit this definition. A miniature will mostly be used for a wallhanging although they could be used as a baby doll quilt or some such thing. I enjoy making miniatures because I can experiment with a technique but not obligate myself to making a large quilt.
I made Love Birds in the mid 1980's. It was one of my first appliquéd pieces, and though it is not my best work I think it is a sweet little quilt. (Quilters cannot resist pointing out their weaknesses for some reason.) It is 14 inches square.
